Toning your buttocks
The buttocks are the target muscle for many exercises and are designed
to propel us forward as in sprinting and to launch us as in jumping.
But they're difficult to train and many exercises fail to tone this
area because the intensity of the exercise is not enough to engage
the strong fibres of the glutes.
"Pulsing" the leg behind you whilst on all fours will give you
a burn because of the build-up of lactic acid, but the weight of
your leg alone is too light to strengthen and tone.
To build up your glutes, you must include heavier exercises such
as the squat and the deadlift. These are technical lifts and you
should consult with a fitness professional before you attempt them
with anything more than your bodyweight.
